My hands started shaking and were clammy. I felt a little sweat down my back. My heart was raising, and I had some chest pain. No, I wasn’t dying; I was about to give a speech to a room full of professional peers! I took a deep breath and stepped forward with every once of courage I could hold onto.
Have you ever experienced anything similar and where you needed courage? Most people have. And by the way the presentation went very well.
Each of us feel the need for a boost of courage, but for different circumstances. Leaving a job and seeking another, public speaking, running for elected office, putting yourself in a new environment or situation, and so on!
Where does courage come from? Often from deep within and from a place we didn’t even know existed until we needed it. Sometimes we don’t feel like we have courage, but that “first step” is courage!
Let’s face it-life throw us curve balls all the time! We need to adapt. Often that requires to be subjected to the unknown. Face it with courage!
Remember the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz? He had the courage in him the while time. He just needed to believe in himself! Just as you do!
