The start of each year, I do a little inventory. I mentally assess my home, mind, lifestyle for clutter. Both physical and mental clutter weigh us down. We do not operate at our prime potential. Furthermore, since our mind and body are so intricately connected, when one is weighed down so is the other.
Whether it be our living or working space that is disorganized or full of unnecessary objects, our mind will find that space unsettling. And when our mind is clutter with too much that is goes into overload mode, we will pay the price. Or maybe, our mind is being pulled into so many directions that nothing is getting accomplished. We may not know where it even begin.
When I feel overwhelmed, I check my workspace. If it is cluttered, I know that is a contributor and I need to clear the space or at least put some control into the space. Think- organized chaos! If the physical space is in order, then I considered all the things and especially thoughts that may be keeping me immobilized. I create a list on paper or tablet and then allow myself “permission” to let them go. I can only tackle one thing at a time, not twenty, not even two. By clearing the clutter of my mind, I can be present for the one thing in the moment!
As you journey along your path, make sure the path is not cluttered and you can focus on what is right before you!
