When I was younger I feared spiders. Well I still really don’t like them and yes I might still scream out loud by the sight and/or proximity of a spider, but that is not what really scares me anymore. What frightens me to the core is technology! Specifically my inability to use it, understand it, participate in its functionality!
When I opened my own business 3 years ago, I knew I would have to delve into the modern age of technology. Sure I can operate a computer using Word, Facebook, Google for research etc. Then Linked In came along, Instagram, Snap Chat, Twitter and my mind is just swimming with slosh over what these all do and mean! While I resisted getting a “smart” phone, I do own one now but only use a few functions. My “dumb” phone was happy with me and I knew how to use it! My children have helped me along the way, but get easily frustrated because I keep asking them to back up and let me process what they are rapidly doing on instinct.
So how is this an Inspiration? I am facing my fear. I am half way through a Social Media Class and my goal tomorrow is to actually create a YouTube video of Facing Your Fear. I realized I could not encourage others to follow their path and face their fears if I was not willing to do the same.
We all have things that we are afraid of, whether it be physical (like a spider!) or mental (like risking humiliation on video) or emotional (risking to fall in love)! While we can choose to not confront our fears and stay stagnant, we then deprive ourselves of reaching our potential. Consider your fear…look it in the face and, with confidence, declare yourself a victor. Don’t allow it to have power over you. Sure you might have to take a risk but then again that can keep life exciting!
So stay tuned…tomorrow check for the video on my website .
May your path be filled with victory over your fears!
P.S. My daughter had to turn on the TV for me today because I could not get the controller to work! LOL
