Sunshine or SAD
I live in Illinois. There is no promise of sunshine in March nor April. Actually earlier this week there was sunshine and snow flurries at the same time! If you haven’t heard of Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD) or worse yet experienced it, then you are lucky. It is a syndrome of slipping into various degrees of depression when there is a lack of sunshine. People who live where there are long winters tend to be more prone to this disorder. Who would have thought that the bright ball of light was so important to our disposition?
When we do get a sunny day (ok in the midwest let’s just accept sunny moments!), go outside. Take a deep breath. Look up with closed eyes and feel the warmth on your face. Experience the sun with all of its gifts.
So often we move through life on fast speed that we do not even notice the simple things that have the ability to transform our day. Sunshine is a perfect example that we often take for granted. We miss the association between our moods and sunshine. We miss that with the sun shining bright we have flowers sprouting, birds chirping, and warmer conditions. Notice these changes in the season and you will find how you are personally being changed as well.
May you soak up the sun along your path!
