Purpose and Passion

A couple weeks ago, I went to a women’s business conference.  It was very inspiring and I left with a laundry basket full of ideas.  Then the next two weeks I was busy with preparing for and presenting on mental health issues.  What I realized over the last couple of weeks is that no matter what your business is, you need purpose and passion.  Both have changed for me over the years but bottom line, I love my work.

As  a mental health clinician, I helped clients with a variety of needs since I first entered this profession.  While I will continue to address the varying diagnoses of my clients, I recently I found my passion.  And it is personal.  And it arose from the darkest time of my life.  But from that darkness came my purpose.  I now speak publicly about the need to not sweep the topic of mental illness under the rug.  I speak about my son who attempted suicide and the challenges he and our family continue to endure.  I am passionate about saving others from facing suicide and for helping the family members through the maze.  I offer hope.

While the topic of suicide is the a topic I want to be an expert on, it is what life presented me.  Whatever your path in life is, find something that gives you purpose.  Find you passion.  Together we make each other stronger.

May you find you purpose and passion along your path!
