In the Eye of the Beholder…
Have you ever gone through the same experience with someone and then when later discussing it realize you saw the situation totally different? Our “vision” of what we experience is often colored by our perception.
So many arguments and disagreements stem from our differing perceptions. The interesting point is that each perception is accurate for that person. And in reality the “truth” may be an even different concept.
Did you ever think about how you may be completely enamored by someone while your best friend finds no attracting characteristic of that some person? Or have you witnessed a sporting event such as a basketball game where you saw a foul but the referee saw no such thing? Have you thought a book was engaging but your spouse thought it was boring?
Our senses are filtered by our own unique personalities, our life experiences, our lifespan development. They all play a part of how we perceive our world. It often does not make others wrong and us right but all of us merely seeing life through a different lens.
So remember when you are confronted by a different opinion, view, or concept that we are all guided by our own unique perception. The more we respect these differences the more peaceful our life will be.
May the perception of your path be tempered with allowing others their own perceptions!
