How often do you listen to music? I typically have it on in the background when I am at home. Rarely can I tell you the name of the artist, or even sing along with all the right words! Usually I can tell you how music makes me feel. Do you pay attention to how music makes you feel?

Think a bit about how you respond to music…

Music can make you want to dance, cry, contemplate you life! Recently a client asked me to listen to a song about challenging suicidal thoughts! He found it comforting! Through the song lyrics you will often find that others encounter the same struggles.

While music may not change your life, you may find that it helps enhance your feelings. I encourage you to find a genre of music that speaks to you. And maybe one day you want love songs, and the next you want rock, or country or easy listening. Music can also help you settle into meditation.

The more aware we are of what “speaks” to us, the more we can find comfort. Music is a great way to help us determine what we relate to and what gives us comfort.
