Me overthink? I don’t think I do, but let me think on it!
If you are planning a party, there are preparations that need to be made. But overthinking a theme or what to serve, isn’t necessary. Choosing a doctor should require some thought, but what to wear each day should not.
To determine if you are overthinking (assuming you don’t already recognize when it is happening), just consider if you are distracted from what is right in front of you. Are you obsessing over something? Are your thoughts focused on that one thing to the point you are not enjoying life in the present? Are you having trouble making a decision after a lot of reflection? Then you are overthinking!
Just make a decision. Go with your gut instinct. Most of our decisions are not permanent. If it doesn’t work out, move on or try something else! When we overthink we often try to think of every possible variable. Well, that simply is not possible. And in the meantime, a lot of time and energy is wasted. We often think of worst case scenarios rather than best case scenarios too! In the meantime, we have also lost a lot of opportunities while not staying in the present!
So stop yourself! Don’t overthink! Be present! Enjoy the moments!
