The first thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621, after the first harvest, and included Pilgrims and native American Indians.   It became a national holiday in 1863 proclaimed by Abraham Lincoln.  Today we celebrate the holiday with family gathered to eat a feast of turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie along with other yummy foods.  We watch the Macy’s Parade and lots of football.

This week we are reminded to be thankful of all we have.  As we gather, let’s celebrate those who we may take for granted that are seated around the feast.  Let’s celebrate that we have the food to make a feast.  And let’s celebrate the freedom we have in a country that often seems divided but still offers more freedoms and choices than anywhere else in the world.

Happy Thanksgiving!  May you see the blessings along your path!
