Changing Seasons, Skill and Self
As we enter into the Fall Season, we change our wardrobes to include warmer clothing, decorate with bright colored leaves and orange pumpkins, and make warmer weather foods. It is also a great time to consider changes in our lives. As the world around us is ever changing, so are we. While we often don’t even consider the changes that encompass us, we can be intentional with those changes as well. Consider this, you read the newspaper or see a documentary and gain new information that appeals to you and thus become more knowledgeable by this exposure of information. You can also seek out information (google a topic of interest), direct yourself in changing a habit that is not productive (nail biting or anger management), or try out a new skill (like yoga or take an art class).
We are all a work in progress. We change, we adapt, we cope, we seek to thrive. Sometimes those changes are forced upon us. Other times, we seek to incorporate positive and constructive changes. You might be preparing to make changes in your home decor and your wardrobe to include accents of fall colors. While those changes are external, take a moment to reflect on internal changes as well. Roxana Jones said, “Season’s are natures way of showing us how to live.” I believe as the seasons come and go each year and look a little different year by year, so do the seasons of our lives.
When I think about the Fall season, images of red, yellow & orange leaves; orange pumpkins; red apples; Indian corn and cornstalks come to mind. I also think of crisp air. I think this is a wonderful season to incorporate a time of reflection and peaceful mindfulness before the business of the upcoming holidays.
May your path be filled with the changes of the Fall seasons as well as finding the personal changes that bring you all the color of the season!
