And the World Will Live As One
I think John Lennon had the right idea. But at what cost do we get there?
Think back to 9/11 and you will recall our country bonding together. Even elected officials from opposing sides stood together in unity. We were sent messages of peace from across the world. With the recent attack in Las Vegas with 59 killed (as of this writing) and over 400 injured, we are again pulling together offering support to those effected. Not only have these tragedies pulled us together, but also the recent natural disasters of hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires. We come together as a nation, regardless of socioeconomic status, color or race, gender, or any other divide.
While we are uniting and helping those in need from these horrific tragedies, what about the many days when there are not news breaking tragedies? On those “normal” days, we find hollering, arguing and large divides. Locally, nationally and globally. Why is it that we can show love and compassion to each other on some days and not others?
When we are faced with tragic events, whether they be man made or natural disasters, we tend to bond together. As the saying goes, there is power in numbers. We encourage each other. We provide for each other. We demonstrate kindness. Can you imagine if that was the way we communicated each and every day? The world really would be as one!
There are people who are suffering mentally and physically each and every day. By showing the same love and compassion to all, every day, we would be living in a much kinder world. Idealistic, maybe. Impossible, well not probable. But just maybe if we all try to walk, talk and think in that direction, we will find our own little niche in this world a little brighter!
May you show love and compassion to all along your path!
