Whether it be politics, religion, or even what you type of music you want to listen to, many people are passionately giving voice to their beliefs.  At one time, I would have said that was a good thing.  I do believe everyone has a right to their opinion.  But I also believe that while you have a right to your opinion and to voicing it, when you are disrespectful and spit out nastiness against others, you loose all my respect.

I am a politically active person and have been since I was a child; call it hereditary (thanks Dad!?!).   I also have very dear family members and friends who philosophically are committed to the other political party.  We can have a discussion, agree to disagree, and move on.  When things get tense, it is time to change the subject and let our differences go.

With the anonymity and a level of separation allowed by Facebook and other social medias, it becomes much easier to dispense one’s views in a venomous way with likely no repercussions.  Here is an idea, if we promote our thoughts, do we really need to tear apart another human being for thinking differently?  Speak to your own views and beliefs.  We do not have to attack others.  Sure, point out differences in philosophy and defend your point.  But do not allow the division that makes an enemy out of a friend!

Let it go!

Don’t hold on to grudges!

Apologize if you need to!

And seek common ground!

When your encounter those along your path who think differently, have a respectful discussion, if necessary Agree to Disagree and then Let it Go!
