This past week I spent a few days at one of my favorite places:  Siesta Key Beach, Florida.  I walked along the shore, sifted sand between my fingers, listened to the crashing waves, tasted the salt water (not on purpose!), smelled the gulf scent and saw the beauty before me.  With all my senses I reveled in the experience and felt a peace like nowhere else.

While we can’t all go to a beach to have time to reflect, we can find a place that can be our sanctuary; a place that offers us the ability to create a peaceful frame of mind.  This time of year, most people are rushing around decorating, shopping, wrapping presents, going to holiday parties, baking and become so stressed out they do not even enjoy what is in front of them.

I encourage you to take 5 minutes each day and put aside the craziness of the season.  Lay on your back, close your eyes, and feel your body relax.  If a thought of the next few things you have to do, or what present you need to get for your son, pops into you mind, just let the thought go and bring your focus back to the present.  If you like the beach, let your mind picture yourself there, feeling the sand between your toes.  If you like snow skiing, let your mind picture yourself there, breathing the brisk, fresh air.  Let your mind take you to a peaceful place, even if for only 5 minutes.  Breathe in and out slowly and just set aside all the stress.

This new frame of mind will center you and allow you a clearer path to continue your day!

May your path find you at your peaceful place each day!
