Several years ago, just before my daughter graduated from college I received a call from her. She was obviously upset and crying. Upon asking what was troubling her, she said she didn’t know which job to take. While most children graduating college are hoping for any job, she had three very promising job offers. While not a bad problem to have, she was still struggling with making a decision.
As a whole we all struggle over making life decisions. The really big ones that will have an impact on our future. My advice to her was to go with her gut instinct but to remember that even if she later realized it was not the right position for her that she could change jobs. I think we forget that we are never “stuck” unless we choose to allow ourselves to be stuck. On the other hand, if we don’t reach out and make these challenging decisions, we may miss out on the happiness, goals and dreams that are just waiting for us.
We don’t need to stay put forever. If our decisions don’t work out, well we can learn from the experience and move on. Life is ever changing. Fear of the unknown can be overwhelming. In the end though, we can gain much more from leaning lessons on unsuccessful decisions and dreams may become realities!
May the decisions you make along your path of life bring you lessons learned and closer to your dreams.
