When I was growing up, my family would go on vacation to the Ozarks in Missouri and to Minoqua in Wisconsin, along with various other places. Our trips to the Ozarks and Minoqua were not one time trips and I remember the “feelings” of being there. My own family has been going to Eagle River Wisconsin on and off for years. I get the same “feelings” there as I did as a child. While we went to Disney World, the Grand Canyon and other exciting places, it is the trips to the peaceful, nature filled places that gave me the most peaceful feelings.

There is just something about being surrounded by water, tall trees, and nature. It gives me a sense of calm and peace and serenity and clarity. It is good for my soul!

I have often thought that God directed me to find these places so I could enjoy and revel in their majesty. And have to contemplate, ponder and explore. It allows us to rejuvenate.

While you might not be able to vacation in places like this, I encourage you to find your “place”. It might be a park or nature preserve. Maybe it is a peaceful spot in your backyard. What do you hear? What do you see, really look around? Feel a tree trunk or brush your hand over the grass or sand. Spend a few moments, longer if you can, and just observe and let your mind be free of responsibilities and trouble and just find peace. Then do it again tomorrow and the next day!

May your path find you at peace in the nature around you!
